The Maritime Motorsports Hall of Fame (MMHF) annual nomination process is well underway with an April 1 deadline for submissions. Anyone can make a nomination among several different genres of motorsports. The process is simple and can be done online or by printing and mailing the nomination form.
All inductees into the MMHF have been nominated by someone (vs an in-house committee) which makes being included in the hallowed hall even that much more special.
Once the deadline has passed a committee reviews the nominations and will make their selections for the Class of 2019. This year’s induction ceremony is set for November 16 at the Wingate Hotel in Dieppe. Since its founding in 2006, more than 130 people and clubs have been inducted to the Maritime Motorsports Hall of Fame.
Eligible nominees are those persons and/or entities that have made a significant contribution to motorsports either as a participant or in growing the sport in the Maritimes. All genres of motorsports are included in the MMHF, with induction categories: Competitor (drivers/riders), Recreational (snowmobile, motorcycle, ATV), Restoration and Specialties (any motorized vehicle), Motorsport Builders (officials, promoters, sponsors, media, and clubs), and Teams.
Anyone can participate in the nomination process. Nominations received by April 1 will be considered for the current year by a committee. If a nominee is not selected then the nomination will be held over for consideration the next year. Incomplete nominations are exempt from consideration.
The MMHF was formed to celebrate and recognize the tremendous motorsports history in the Maritime Provinces of Canada (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Prince Edward Island).
