HIGHLIGHTS

Starting in the ’60s through the ’80s, Russell White and his family were the backbone of Late Model racing from Kennecook. 1978 Russell bought Onslow Speedway. On Saturday night MASCAR ran at other tracks, then at Onslow Sunday afternoon. Russell’s support of the racing community was unwavering. He sponsored many drivers. His son, Bobby, started racing in 1977 at 18, in the Mini class at Atlantic Speedway and won the points championship. 1978 he moved up to the Late Model class. 1980 Bobby won the points championship at Onslow. He made quite an impression in only his third year – not only in NS, NB, PEI but also in Ontario. He was a regular driver and winner in MASCAR. Due to back problems, Bobby gave up regular racing but did some special events. He was always a fan favorite.
